Marine & Ports

The marine and ports sector play a vital role economically, socially and militarily through the facilitation of the entry and exit of trade, leisure and naval vessels both large and small in ports around the world. The team at SIS has assisted one Australia’s largest and most recognised ports remove the requirement for various species of timber to be felled for the purpose of products such as gravel beams and decking for under-wharf walkways. This was completed by designing and engineering a replacement product using reclaimed and recycled materials.

SIS understands that remaining in constant contact with the client throughout any development process and having an absolute understanding of the clients needs, requirements and desired outcomes is essential in assisting clients including port authorities to deliver a more sustainable and cost effective outcome for all stakeholders. Given our materials range from recycled rubber through to fibre reinforced plastics, the marine and ports sector is one that has embraced these sustainable materials globally given they not only assist in the reduction of environmental footprints, they also outlast and out perform more traditional materials. Also, when reviewed in a whole of life analysis, they are more cost effective given the almost non-existent maintenance requirements and design life in excess of 100 years.
