Transport & Logistics

Transport and logistics industry sectors include modes of transport such as air, rail, road and sea. The field can be divided into infrastructure, vehicles / vessels and operations – it is the infrastructure sector where SIS assists mostly with the replacement of traditional materials such as timber and steel with our range of high performance, recycled components. Examples of this include the development of recycled plastic pallets, recycled WPC bearers and fibre reinforced plastic container dunnage to name a few.

Transport and logistics is all about efficiencies, and in so many cases can include a chain of stakeholders all of which are charged with the responsibility of either improving on or becoming more environmentally focused. SIS not only assists in the replacement of components, but also works with individuals and organisations responsible for tasks such as the replacement of infrastructure surrounding the transport and logistics sector.

The team at SIS has been responsible for the replacement of aging, less sustainable materials on transport vehicles such as Melbourne’s heritage listed W Class trams. These improvements not only provide industry heavy-weights with the capacity to tell their environmental story, but also drastically reduce the maintenance demands on their infrastructure.
